Bange no jyokan2

West of Aizu-Bange town. It is located in the Funakubo village, from front of Sugi-Yakushi in
the Sugi village, about 0.8km to the south take the former Tōdera and Akaru Line (Hattan-dōro
road). According to the description of Aizu-Kagami, Funakubo-village-saku (stockade), on a scale
is East-West 40-Ken (73m) and North-South 21-Ken (38m). It is said that the Samurai of Ōdera
(in charge of security and security of the temple), Abe Izumo-no-kami Michiyasu built it. It is said
that it lived in Kurosawa Kaname later. This Kurosawa Kaname is thought to be a member of
the family of Mr. Kurosawa, one of the three brothers of Sugi-mansion. The details of the year of
the built a castle are unknown. After Abe Izumo-no-kami built the castle, the village was
exhausted by natural disasters caused by famine and typhoons, so it is unclear in detail whether
they abandoned management or lost the territorial dispute and left. In any case, I think that Mr.
Kurosawa of Sugi-mansion sent a person of the family as a village owner to the place where it
became a place where not living, and managed it as a rule ground.
It is thought that the area around the Fire-station-Tonsho called the Aza-Daimon is the ruins of
the mansion.

About 2km across the railroad crossing of the JR Tadami line to the south from the front of
Bange Kōsei Genaral Hospital. The ruins of the mansion of Mr. Ashina’s vassal located in the
Ushizawa settlements in the Ushikawa district. The area on the north side of Sōtō-shū sect
Daitoku-ji temple is the remains of Ushizawa-mansion, but it is a residential area and there are
no evidence of the ruins of the mansion. In the Aizu-Kagami, it has been described that there
were two mansions in the Ushizawa districts.
1. Ushizawa-village-saku(stockade), East-West 30-Ken (55m), North-South 60-Ken (109m). It is
said that Sawara Yu-u-ma-no-suke Akimori was built it, and when it was Tenshō years (1573
year ~ 1591 year), it was lived by Saze Kazusa-no-kami, a subordinate of the Mr. Gamō clan.
Now in Aizu-Wakamatsu city, Mr. Saze’s descendant living.
2. Nishi(west)-Ushizawa-village-saku(stockade), East-West 15-Ken (27m), North-South 19-Ken
(35m). Sawara Akimori's younger brother Danjō Sanemoto built and lived, it is said he had
made Isome to family name. Even now, the people of the descendants clan live this land. This
Mr. Sawara here is a distant relatives of Aizu-Mr. Ashiha, who is connected from the ancestor of
the Ashina family, Sawara Jūrō Yoshitsura. It is thought that the Inari shrine in Torii in the
photo was the residence god of Ushizawa-mansion.

It is a Niidate settlements which entered the Kawanishi-Kaidō road north, from National Route
49 on the outskirts of the west of Aizu-Bange town.
In the Aizu-Koruiki, Niidate-village-rui (fortress), East-West 82-Ken (194m), North-South 79-
Ken (144m), called Tanaka-jō castle. It is thought that it is the ruins of the mansion where the
vassal Inomata Koroku was placed, and Inomata Koroku lived there. In the topography of the
Touzen-ji temple area, can see the traces of the moat, and it is reminiscent of the ruins of
mansion.
It is thought that it was a considerably large castle from the range of Date-no-uchi, and it is
thought that there was a Matoba (medieval bow and horse training area, current military
training ground) in the east of the castle owner's house. Along with the "Jingamine-jō castle" in
the U-nai districts, it is an important historical ruins of the Heian period in Aizu-Bange town.
The name of the place in the whole settlements is in Tate-no-uchi, and it is one of the Aizu
Hachi-date (8 mansions) built by Jō Shirō Nagamochi in Ho-an 1 year (1120 year, end of Heian
period). Excavations found a remains estimated to be the ruins of moat, but it is said that no
evidence of the function of the mansion was found. The current state of the castle area is a
residential area and farmland surrounding two temples, and the Hachiman shrine of the
village-shrine is enshrined in the east of settlements.

It is about 900m to the south from the Sugi settlements in the west of Aizu-Bange town.
It is located 500m east of Funakubo settlements.
In the Aizu-Kagami, the Hirukawa-saku (stockade), East-West 31-Ken (56m), North-South 22-
Ken (40m). This is called Hirukawa-mansion, which is built by Kōzuke Kaga-no-kami Hidekage.
It is said that Hasegawa Kageyu was lived there in the time of Tenshō years (1573 year ~ 1591
year). The year of the castle built is unknown, but of the reign of the Ashina Moriuji clan, I guess
it's between the Tenbun to the Genki years (1532 year ~ 1570 year). After the invasion of Aizu
by Date Masamune, when the lord Mr. Gamō Ujisato entered the viceroy of Aizu, the ruling
system became a Gō-Kumi (local-group) system from the Chigyōchi (fief) system. Since Hirukawa
was incorporated into the Ushizawa-gumi(group), the Hirukawa-stockade became an abandoned
castle and became a private house, leading to the present day.

The eastern end of Aizu-Bange town. It is located near the west bank of Ō-kawa river (Aga-kawa
river), 500 m south of Murata settlements in Miyako district. In the Shinpen-Aizu-Fudoki,
Ebisawa-mansion, in the village of Higashijū, East-West 1-Chō (109m), North-South 1-Chō 10-
Ken (127m). It has become a private house, there is a written that it is said that it is the place
where the person called Fujikura Kyūtarō Shige-nobu lived from when. Although the details of
the year of the castle built have not been told, I think it is the end of the Mr. Ashina rule period.
This person Fujikura Kyūtarō Shigenobu is a member of the Aizu-Ashina clan, and he is a
relative of Mr. Fujikura who built Fujikura-Nikaidō hall in Kawahigashi town, Aizu-Wakamatsu
city.
The mansion is the time of the invasion of Aizu by Date Masamune in Tenshō 17 year (1589
year), at the same time as attacking the rebelled Tsukahara-mansion, Ebisawa-mansion was also
attacked and burned. It seems to have become a private house without being rebuilt afterwards.

It is located in the eastern end of Aizu-Bange town, in the northwestern part of Saikuna
settlements along the Miya-kawa river.
In the Aizu-Kagami is called Fukumori-saku (stockade). East-West 31-Ken (56m), North-South
22-Ken (40m). Minagawa Jirō Yosimura lives there. There is a written that Fukumori was made
the family name later. The year of the castle built is unknown, but I think it is the end of the Mr.
Ashina rule period. I think that it was attacked and it castle-fell at the time of the invasion of
Aizu of Date Masamune in Tenshō 17 year(1589 year). The present situation is a private house,
and the ruins of the earthen wall and the moat is about only a little left. It left a slight remnant
of the chaotic times of the end Medieval, and now it is a peaceful settlements and the ruins of
the mansion where farming is carried out.
